The U.S. Post Office unveiled the Ted Williams Stamp at Fenway park during ceremonies to honor the former Red Sox hall of famer & U.S. Marine Pilot. George Katis, Museum Board Member had the honor of representing the Ted Williams Museum & the Williams Family on the field at historic Fenway park. The July 2012 debut of the stamp lines up with the 10th anniversary of the baseball slugger's death.
Artist and illustrator Kadir Nelson perfectly captures the follow-through of Williams' iconic swing. Check out the musculature of his arms and the details of Teddy Ballgame's earnest (even serious) face. Williams is joined in the U.S.P.S. 'Forever' stamp collection by fellow ball players Joe DiMaggio, Willie Stargell, and Larry Doby (the first American Leaguer to break MLB's color barrier).
